Here at the Express, we've got a soft spot for cougars. Or at least we find the whole phenomenon interesting. That's why we can't help but share country singer Cooper Boone's utterly awful take on the subject, "Cougar Dream." It's a short song about a truck driver and the hot, truck-drivin' older woman who rescues him on the road -- every stranded male motorists' fantasy, I think. File under so-bad-it's-funny ... and enjoy.
Okay, it ain't news, but it'll be a fine diversion from your bore of a job. This lady Leslie Hall, who perhaps you've seen modeling a deviously genius gem sweater collection, is actually a pretty funny cat. Find out what she dug up during a recent Amoeba Music shopping trip here. Hint: Troop Beverly Hills, Shania Twain, and Total Club Hits now seem slightly more desirable.
"El Corrido de Barack Obama," a Mexican folk song dedicated to President Barack Obama (allegedely the first corrido ever written for a U.S. president) is now available in an English-language version. The same folks (Vesper Public Relations, who're evidently working the case) say that this is the first corrido ever recorded in English. Aw, Barack, what an honor!
For more on the song and its origins, please see our previous post. As for the song, click that little player on the left. It's actually not that bad, though it can be hard to understand all the lyrics with singer El Sinaloa 21's accent. The ones I can understand are pretty rad, like The economy was too damaged / Everyone united together / People from different races / We give him all the support.
Piedmont pop-rock band Dizzy Balloon took an unassailably goofy submission to Live 105's Not So Silent Night opening act contest and turned it into something awesome.
Enjoy fine tunes by artists featured in this week's music section. Radio Express is your chance to hear the bands we write about!
