West Oakland metal trio High on Fire has entered the studio to begin tracking its fifth album, as yet untitled, for release in early 2010. This time around, the band is working with producer Greg Fidelman (whose credits include Metallica's Death Magnetic, Slayer's Soundtrack to the Apocalypse, and Audioslave's debut) and recording at the Pass Studios in Los Angeles. No longer on Relapse Records, HoF has since signed with E1 Music (formerly Koch Records), whose metal roster also includes Satyricon and In Flames.

The band is also soon to embark on a nationwide tour with Dethklok and friends Mastodon, yet currently the tour has no plans to stop in the Bay Area. So unfortunately there's no set date on when local fans might get a taste of the new material. In the meantime, check out these newly released photos of the band in the studio.
