Trib reporter Sean Maher, who has been assiduously documenting the events at Occupy Oakland over this past week, was featured on Olbermann last night. He's about to be transferred to the Contra Costa Times in Antioch, and Oakland will surely miss him. Here's the clip, for those who missed it:

Just what we need here as Oakland steams full speed into fiscal meltdown.
Maher was the first city beat local Trib reporter in years to try to convey quantitative info to his readers in a way they could understand. He had the nerve to ask politicians to reconcile their broad statements with the numbers, and didn't accept their spin at face value.
We don't need more warm, chatty reporters, or more op-eds. We can get that on the blogs.
We need reporter who dig into the numbers and the policies and the bland lies of politicians. Who unlike us bloggers, cross check their info.
SM, thank you for your service here.
