AC Transit Adopts "Buy-America" Policy

Robert Gammon —  Thu, Oct 15, 2009 at 12:52 PM

The AC Transit board of directors adopted a "Buy-America" policy last night that could end the agency's controversial relationship with Belgian-bus-maker, Van Hool. The board voted 6-1 for the policy, which was sponsored by board member Elsa Ortiz and directs AC Transit staff to "employ its best efforts" to procure goods made in America, and give first priority to California-made products. The only board member to vote against the policy was Chris Peeples, one of the biggest cheerleaders for Van Hool buses over the years.

Good ridden!!!!!!

Could this be the reason why Fernandez had announced his resignation to the employees on Friday 10/16/2009? Whatever the case may be, I am sure he is departing with a HUGE retirement package. By the way what about the money he’d borrowed? Will this debt be forgiven, dismissed and forgotten just like the extravagant vacations he and his loyal subjects had taken to Europe?

I suggest all of his cronies follow suit and resign. The board of director’s praises for Fernandez’ leadership is nothing more than a smoke screen. The man and the rest of his loyal servants have deceived, pilfered, and embezzled from the public and they have yet to be prosecuted.

Where is justice?
