I had the pleasure of meeting the BSFC cooks at the Lafayette Community Center where they prepared the gorgeous food for this event. The Community Center staffs' mouths watered as aromas from the fresh ingredients wafted into the office. As a lover of fresh garden produce, it's hard to understand why so many people, especially in California where it's so easy to grow fruits and vegetables at home and/or get them from local farmers, make such poor eating choices. There is some hope, like the Merriewood Children's Garden that brings Lafayette elementary school children into an adjacent garden and teaches them about planting, caring for, and harvesting their own food. Lafayette also ran three pilot Farmers Markets in the month of September which will hopefully become a steady offering.
