First, the Parkway; Now, the Cerrito Theater?

The owners of the Cerrito Speakeasy Theater are struggling financially and may have to close soon, less than a month after their Parkway Theater shut it doors for good, according to the Trib. It looked like the owners, Catherine and Kyle Downey, were going to close the Cerrito on San Pablo Avenue last week. But they tell the Trib that they're barely hanging on, and desperately need to renegotiate their $10,000-a-month rent with the City of El Cerrito. They haven't paid the rent for more than 15 months.
