Oakland Tribune political reporter Josh Richman noticed that after his chain MediaNews endorsed Wilma Chan for state Senate, her campaign put out a flier advertising the news. But check out what Chan did: her flier claims that a bumper crop of East Bay newspapers back her candidacy. That's true, Richman notes, but all four newspapers are owned by the same company, which issued just one editorial on the subject. So it's not exactly four different groups of editors simultaneously reaching the same decision. Bravo, Ms. Chan, for such creative leveraging.
