Former Express writer Justin Berton walks through the Oaksterdam U classes on marijuana cultivation for the Chron, and the result is a deft, subtle portrait of the typical California pot grower. As attorneys Laurence Lichter and Chris Conrad walked the students through the strange legalities of dope growing (the state allows it, but the feds could take your house), the students were much more interested in the horticulture class, where a passionate argument broke out over whether to harvest the plants at eight weeks or eight-and-a-half. Course instructor Ilia Gvozdenovic tried to split the baby, promising her students, "The plants will talk to you. They'll tell you when the time is right." If those students don't pay closer attention to the dope laws, the US Attorney's office might talk to them too.

I think the school is a great idea! If the Government would just wake up, and profit off of marijuana, it can not only could bring in revenue through its medical status, but it could also generate alot of renvenue in other products made with the hemp plant. It would save our forests, and it has been proven to create jobs. With certain restrictions, of course, as we have with alcohol. We could also use some of the revenue to not only rebuilt our ecomony, but could help rehabilitate the the Pillpoppers and the Chemical substance abusers. These are new age drugs of the times.
